Vernon Winter Carnival goes prehistoric

Get ready for Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble.

Prehistoric Carnival, Carnival Before Time has been selected as the theme for the 53rd annual Vernon Winter carnival Feb. 1 to 10, 2013.

"The board of directors had many suggestions for the 2013 Carnival and we wanted to have a fun and family friendly theme," said Dave Fletcher Carnival chairperson.

"This theme lends itself to some fun decorating and parade elements, from dinosaurs to early man."

The Vernon Winter Carnival Society holds its annual general meeting in June.
